Mid Devon District Council Seeks Public Input on Grand Western Canal Conservation Plan

Mid Devon District Council is inviting public feedback on the draft Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAAMP) for the Grand Western Canal. The consultation period runs from 22 July to 16 September 2024.

Key Aspects of the Draft Plan:

  • Boundary Review: Assessing and potentially revising the existing boundaries of the conservation area.
  • Identification of Key Features: Highlighting significant views, open spaces, and character areas within the conservation zone.
  • Guidance and Enhancement: Providing advice on conservation concerns and proposing opportunities for area improvements.
  • Heritage Recognition: Cataloguing both designated and non-designated heritage assets and their settings.

A public drop-in event is scheduled for 23 July 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm, at Phoenix House in Tiverton. Council officers will be available to discuss the draft plan and address any queries.
